The young people, some 15 persons, receive a formal training programme utilizing basic skills development techniques at first which introduce them to pottery machinery, its use/ maintenance and various materials. They also receive through the training programme, certification by Walter Sisulu University of Technology.
Products
There are a wide range of products produced, namely, traditional pottery i.e. beer pots (iingqayi) and modern pottery with traditional decorations, colours and techniques. The designs of today's African fashion trends are encouraged.

Creativity
The pottery creativity of an individual is encouraged at all times since it is a method to express one's inner feelings and emotions. Traditional techniques in production and decoration, also firing with and without the use of a kiln is taught.
Trainer
The Potter is a specialist in the field and is a professional fine artist. He has got a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Fine Art and is responsible for all the activities and for a smooth running of the pottery workshop.
Job opportunities
At the moment the Eastern Cape Province is developing, particularly the O.R. Tambo District Municipality. With the initiation of the new Craft Hub Centre in Mthatha, the Nelson Mandela Museum in Qunu and the growth in tourism, opportunities for our future potters are becoming more available.
